Christian Greetings!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas and to thank you for all you do in shepherding the flock of God and being a lighthouse to your community. I trust you are taking every opportunity this season to worship the ‘Christ’ of Christmas and share good will to all.

While Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy and peace, we know for many in our nation, it is anything but that. The bad economy, terror threats, civil unrest, and the breakdown of the families, have left many without hope. If there were ever a day when we need to boldly arise and shine – it is today - when darkness covers the earth, and thick darkness is over the people.

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.” (Isaiah 60:1–2 NIV)

This is not a time for the church to sit back and watch the world fall apart; on the contrary, this is the time for the church to Arise and Shine. It is in the world’s darkest hour that the church shines brighter than ever before.

That is why I am excited to share with you our theme for next year: CHOSEN for His Glory! I believe we are God’s chosen generation to bring in the last days harvest before the coming of the Lord. Jesus told His disciples, you did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit. We are His special people not because of who we are, but because of whose we are - His chosen one!

We are destined for greatness not because of our choosing, but because of Him who chose us before the foundation of the world. In Eph 1:4-6, Paul writes, “just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace…”

I believe God has chosen you and the Hawaii District for His glory and to declare His praise in the islands and the world. “Let them give glory to the Lord and proclaim His praise in the islands.” (Is. 42:12).

As you prepare your people for the New Year, I would like to encourage you to dedicate the first week or month for a time of fasting and prayer. A special edition “Chosen for His Glory” prayer guide can be downloaded from our district website to reproduce for you members to use during your time of fasting and prayer.

I am also making available the “Chosen for His Glory” soft copy logo for your own church T-shirts and promotional purposes. The District office will also make available special Chosen T-shirts with the district logo on the back in the New Year.

Chosen for His Glory!
