George Nagato's Bio

Dr. George Nagato has served as the Hawaii District Superintendent since 2002. His ministerial experience includes guiding the Christian Education and Youth Department at Wahiawa A/G from 1973-1975, assisting at a church plant called the People’s Church in Kaimuki from 1975-1977 and presently serving as senior pastor of Paradise Chapel along the beautiful Waianae Coast since 1980. On the district level, George has served as District Youth Vice President from 1981-1988 and as sectional presbyter for the Leeward/Central Section (1993-2002) before assuming his superintendent responsibilities.

George graduated cum laude from Bethany Bible College in 1970, received his Master of Arts Degree from Santa Clara University in Counseling/Psychology in 1973, Master of Arts in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1992 and the Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Theological Seminary in 1999. He was licensed to preach in 1970 and ordained in 1981. George has been recognized in the 1969-1970 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and received the Alumnus of the Year Award from Bethany College in 2004.

George has participated in missions trips to Kenya, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines and China basically teaching and working with those called to ministry.

George married Rose (Lutao) from Kauai in 1969 and they have two daughters. Georgine, a nurse is married to Lance and are the parents of Gavin, Gideon and Grayson. Deyon, works as a teacher trainer. George loves to watch and play golf (got two hole in ones in 2006), watch baseball, play Sudoku, Jumble, read books, eat chocolates, and occasionally play the drums.
